Flexible Working Rights in Northern Ireland

Several news reports today have said that every employee now has the right to request flexible working hours after the government extended the right previously reserved for carers and those looking after children. This right does not apply in Northern Ireland!

As it stands, the equivalent NI Work and Families Bill passed the Second Stage at the Assembly on 12th May 2014 and is currently waiting to be passed by the Executive.  We will have to wait and see if the extension of the right to all employees will apply in NI.
