At Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors, we are delighted to be welcomed on board The PILS Project panel of solicitors.

The Public Interest Litigation Support (PILS) Project is an independent organisation established in May 2009 seeking to advance human rights and equality in Northern Ireland through the use of and support for Public Interest litigation.

Public Interest litigation is legal action which seeks to advance the cause of minority or disadvantaged groups or individuals, or which raises issues of broad public concern.

On of The PILS Project's primary aims is to provide financial and legal support to individuals in taking public interest cases. There is an increasing need for Public Interest litigation as a result of both cuts to Legal Aid and welfare reforms which can give rise to equality and human rights issues.

At Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors, we have a particular interest in advocating for social justice in relation to benefits and housing.  We feel that lower socio-economic groups, who very often don’t have a voice, are being disproportionately disadvantaged by austerity measures in a manner that is potentially unlawful.  We look forward to supporting The PILS Project in their vitally important work in all areas of the law.

If you require any advice or assistance with regards to Public Interest litigation, please call us on 028 9024 3901 or contact Laura Banks on for a free, no obligation discussion.
