If the answer is yes to the above you may be able to claim compensation under the Commercial Agents Regulations. The regulations set out the rights and obligations of both agents and principals. The regulations state that the agent will be entitled to -

• Notice on the termination of the contract.
• Commission on all work in progress.
• Compensation for termination of contracts.

The regulations are effective regardless of what provisions are made in any written or unwritten contract. Compensation may be payable to the extent of 2 years commission.
